PC police thwarting a remedy for rape

The enforcers of political correctness—the PC police—are usually too busy patting themselves on the back to realize that their jihad has negative repercussions. One of them is hindering ways to prevent most rapes.

According to a History Channel program (Mankind The Story of All of Us), Genghis Khan raped so many women that up to 1 in every 200 people now alive carry his genes and 60,000 women committed suicide to avoid being raped by him or his men, who killed 40 million people.

While some rapists are motivated by sadistic urges for power and control, most are impulsive, short-sighted men bereft of sufficient empathy who don't care that a few moments of pleasure for them inflicts a lifetime of suffering for their victims. In Twelve Reasons Why Rape is Not Sexually Motivated: A Skeptical Examination, Professor Craig Palmer, a cultural anthropologist, dissected the pop psychology conviction that rape is motivated by power and control, not sexual pleasure. Dr. Palmer and others offer compelling evidence that rapists do indeed seek sexual pleasure.

That's hardly shocking. The pursuit of pleasure leads almost everyone by the nose as we go through life. It's why we dig our graves with spoons that shovel junk food into our mouths instead of broccoli, carrots, squash, onions, and beans. It's why our definition of having a good time is rarely studying but instead listening to music, watching TV, and going to the beach. It's why far more of us are couch potatoes than exercise fanatics. It's why men prefer to date and marry gorgeous women even though the Plain Janes are often a better catch.

Once you understand how people are ruled by the pursuit of pleasure and how they tend to discount the future, predicting their behavior is not difficult. If something is very fun and pleasurable, people want it. Badly.

Despite all of their aberrations, rapists are no less ruled by pleasure than other men. In fact, the impulsivity of rapists gives the upper hand to the pursuit of pleasure, not logical and ethical circumspection.

If rapists were primarily motivated by power and control, most of their victims would be helpless young children and frail elderly women, but:

  1. Kids are targeted only by perverts with another aberration.
  2. Researchers have “consistently [found] that less than five percent of rape victims are over the age of fifty. The fact that elderly women are very rarely raped despite being 'particularly vulnerable' is strong evidence that rapists have a very definite preference for younger (and therefore more attractive) victims.” (emphasis not added)

The desire for pleasure explains why almost all men prefer to look at, hug, kiss, date, marry, and have sex with beautiful women. Looking at the hotties does nothing directly for men, but it does enhance their receptive visual pleasure, which increases testosterone, libido, and hence sexual pleasure. Bingo!

I examined many rape victims in my career as an ER doctor, and all of them were attractive and in their twenties or thirties except for an infant victim of a pedophile.

spot a typo?
If so, please tell me about it.

The kidnapping of women such as Holly Bobo, Jennifer Kesse, Mickey Shunick, Jessica Heeringa, Samantha Koenig, Hannah Anderson, and Tara Grinstead was very likely motivated by a desire to rape them. And what's their common denominator? They're young and very gorgeous. They're also physically fit and hence able to put up one heck of a fight; that is, they're much less easy to control than a young child or Granny. Even without a typical weapon, they might have sufficient training to turn ordinary objects into deadly weapons, or they may possess other self-defense skills enabling them to severely injure or kill their assailants, who likely didn't know if their victims possessed such abilities. Then why risk going after them instead of grannies? Because they're hot. Of all women, such ones in their physical prime are the least vulnerable. So much for the “rapists are motivated by power and control” argument. Instead, their primary motivation is more quotidian: pleasure.

Duh.

Those who deny that sexual pleasure motivates rape are starkly at odds with evidence and even common sense. The pursuit of sexual pleasure isn't the only factor, but it is an important one that was swept aside for too long, along with obvious (to me) ways to give rapists more of what they want—sexual pleasure—without raping.

While intercourse can be intensely pleasurable and is usually much more enjoyable than masturbation (hence explaining why rapists risk a life sentence instead of dissipating their urges with masturbation), people who know much about sex know ways to have more sexual gratification without a partner than with one. Just one problem: most people never figure this out.

That's what education is supposed to be for: so that people who have figured things out or know useful information can teach others to shorten the learning curve. Ah, but in the United States, the dissemination of sexual information is hindered by PC police eager to give a black eye to those (especially ones with different political or ideological opinions) who broach sexual topics deemed off-limits by the PC police, who fancy themselves as the final authority on what people can and cannot discuss, and how they say it. If that leads to more women being raped, the PC police evidently don't care. To them, playing their game is more important than helping to solve vexing problems that the inside-the-box thinkers who rule the world don't have adequate answers to. Like rape.

If you've seen the agonizing anguish of rape victims hours after their assaults—and I have, as an ER doctor—you would have a burning desire as I do to do everything possible to minimize the chance of future rapes. You would also loathe anyone, such as the PC police, who stood in your way.

So what motivates the intolerance of the PC police?

“Intolerance is the most socially acceptable form of egotism, for it permits us to assume superiority without personal boasting.”
Sydney J. Harris

That's right: the PC police are more concerned with stoking their egos than (in this case) helping protect women. Utterly pathetic.

The common denominator of the PC police is that they do little or nothing to make this world a better place because they don't have first-rate minds brimming with intelligence and creativity. With no gold stars coming from others, they give them to themselves in a pitiful attempt to feel good about themselves. Who but a self-centered monster could feel good about himself when he stood in the way of a method that could prevent many rapes? However, lacking the intelligence that would make the PC police realize the adverse consequences of their actions, and lacking the empathy that would make them care about what they're doing wrong, they continue their sick game because the prize for playing it—an ego boost for them—means infinitely more than preventing rapes.

That's obviously disgusting, but the PC police don't care; whatever the price for pumping up their egos, the rest of society must pay it. As dictators of the Dark Age they wish to impose, the PC police rejoice in the problems they cause and perpetuate. Rapists usually are not motivated by urges for power and control, but PC police are. They derive great merriment from making others carefully tiptoe around subject so awkwardly that most spineless people conclude it is better to avoid them altogether. Another victory for the PC police, another loss for freedom of speech, and another blown chance to minimize rapes.

Beyond pathetic.

Medical schools impart not just facts (“the hip bone is connected to the thigh bone”) but also moral imperatives such as professional obligations to do everything possible to prevent and cure human suffering from diseases, injuries, and crime. As I will discuss in an another article, human foibles make this lofty goal often little more than a pipe dream.

Sometimes this noble aspiration is blocked by nothing more than lack of a spine as timid doctors shy away from controversial or sensitive topics such as masturbation. President Clinton did the nation a grave disservice by firing Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders after she suggested that teaching about masturbation might reduce riskier forms of sexual activity, which it obviously would. Teaching specific techniques of it (that go beyond what most people figure out) would also reduce rapes. It would have an additional ancillary benefit: make people more likely to marry for love than marry for lust and to find a convenient outlet for their libidinal desires.

Let's add this up: fewer sexually transmitted diseases (and hence less suffering and death from them), fewer rapes, and a firmer foundation for marriages. Doesn't that sound like something sufficiently important to discuss?

Yes, but for all of his reputed intelligence, Clinton wasn't smart enough to figure that out, or he was so narcissistic that he put his political interests above those of the nation—like politicians in both parties routinely do.

But make no mistake: Clinton wasn't opposed to sex, or discussing it, as he did with a young intern, Monica Lewinsky, who gave him a blowjob in the Oval Office of the White House.

Who is more credible? Clinton's accusers or Clinton, who was impeached, fined, and had his law license revoked for lying under oath? Unless several other women are liars, Clinton's desire for sexual pleasure was so strong he committed crimes that could have put him in prison for years. The irony of it: Bill Clinton the sexual predator needed a cure that he helped block.

PC police play a sick game. They attacked me because I wasn't willing to kowtow to war criminals who raped and then sexually mutilated (such as by spearing their vaginas) young and old women, which I documented in articles on Japanese war crimes and Hirohito: the war criminal who got off scot-free. The PC police sided with the sickos who literally gang-raped infants, attacking not the perpetrators of some of history's worst crimes against humanity, but attacking me for referring to them using a colloquial abbreviation still in use in an upscale predominantly liberal yuppie town.

Notably, they didn't attack Senator Daniel Inouye, an American of Japanese ancestry, who used the same term but intensified it by prefacing it with “Damn.” Why leave him alone and attack me? Because Senator Inouye is a Democrat and I am politically independent, sometimes agreeing with conservatives, sometimes agreeing with libertarians, and sometimes agreeing with liberals. The PC police are liberals who want everyone to agree with everything they believe; hence they are also bigots.

bigot (noun): (1) a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing opinion, belief, or creed; (2) a person who is obstinately intolerant of any ideas other than his or her own, especially on politics or religion, and has animosity toward those of differing beliefs.

I am not spineless enough to cave into such pressure, so I fight to protect women from rape and I fight so the victims of the Japanese holocaust are not forgotten. Kan LiPun Ong submitted a comment on one of my relevant articles, saying that General MacArthur's “biggest sin was allowing the greatest war criminal in history [Emperor Hirohito] to [get off] scot-free. Millions of souls cannot rest in peace because of this.”

And I fight bigotry. I agree with Voltaire, who said, “Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so, too.” We should all have the freedom to think for ourselves: to think of ways to combat rape, and to refer to war criminals using language appropriate for them instead of treating them with kid gloves. Those rapists and sadistic monsters don't deserve coddled treatment, but if you disagree, feel free to side with the PC police.

After years working in emergency departments, including those in two of the most violent cities in the United States, I know what crime victims look like, but you likely do not. If you want to see the horrific aftermath, here are very graphic pictures of Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman after meeting the Butcher of Brentwood.

The views expressed on this page may or may not reflect my current opinions, nor do they necessarily represent my past ones. After reading a slice of what I wrote in my various websites and books, you may conclude that I am a liberal Democrat or a conservative Republican. Wrong; there is a better alternative. Just as the primary benefit from debate classes results when students present and defend opinions contrary to their own, I use a similar strategy as a creative writing tool to expand my brainpower—and yours. Mystified? Stay tuned for an explanation. PS: The wheels in your head are already turning a bit faster, aren't they?

F. Scott Fitzgerald
